Holiday Networking

If the New Year has you thinking about a new practice opportunity, then make the most of this holiday season with these networking tips.
December can be one of the best times to network, so plan on attending as many functions as possible. All the holiday parties or social gatherings you will attend are opportunities to mingle and make new connections. Don’t be afraid to ask your friends, family members, and co-workers for introductions to a few new contacts. You never know what conversation could open a new door.
Be Prepared
It’s important to make the most out of each function you attend. A little preparation can go a long way. To help relieve some of the anxiety, make sure you have a sentence or two in mind that describes your qualifications and desires in a concise, friendly way. Also, always remember the 80/20 rule — spend 80% of the conversation asking and listening, and 20% talking.
No one likes a grinch around the holidays. Listening to someone complain about their environment or job functions is not conducive to a festive atmosphere. Always be positive and focus on painting a picture of what you want in an opportunity, rather than what you don’t want.  As the Law of Attraction states — focusing on positive thoughts brings forth positive results.
